Remember these? my princess slippers?

One night at Wal-mart a bunch of us guys bought house slippers and went the more eccentic route. Well now some lucky soul will find them at Goodwill. They served me well.

Hey, come on peoples! Where's the posting? I'll admit I haven't been the most faithful, but at least Phil and I have posted in the last month!

Anyway, I'm up here in Sioux Falls and having fun adjusting to this great city. Yesterday I went to church and met some Goshenites' families and then in the evening went out for ethnic South Dakota food: chislic. What is that, you ask? Well, that was the raging argument at our table, but it is traditionally made of sheep, not lamb. They take the old ones('chewy-ewey', you might say) and chop it all up and put it on a skewer like shiskabobs and it tastes pretty good. Today I didn't have to start work and so I biked around town (I'm really close to the downtown and numerous parks) and did some errands, got a library card, etc. You can read more at the Kenwood blog, I'm too lazy to retype it all here.

Hope everyone is doing just dandy on this fine 70 degree August day!

Would either of you like to explain what's going on in this picture? I was reviewing my pictures from Rachel's and my glorious honeymoon trip through Europe and found a surprising few with Danny in them, often lurking in the background, but sometimes right there with my Rachel. In this photo, it appears Rachel grabbed my camera when I was talking to that friendly couple from San Fran. Rachel, I know our relationship hasn't been all peaches and cream but did you really have that little faith? Our honeymoon? Not the best time to bring a "friend" along. Gawsh.
We'll almost everyone has now departed our dearest Goshen. I think it's just Alyssa and me - we're partying like every night until I leave. Seriously. So at this moment we're in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Africa?, Arizona...others? We really should get together sometime, once we have jobs and money to travel and such..or even before. And hey, if one of you has a party, and you invite everyone you know, you'll see the biggest gift would be from me. And the card attatched would say, "thank you for bein' a friend."
Let me know if you don't get that tv reference. I sound like a big dork if you don't recognize it. We wouldn't want that...me soundin' like a dork. Oops, phone...just a sec. Oh, hey Alyssa. Sure we can hang out. Rollerskating? Sure, but I'd really rather go bowling. No, I don't have any brewsky but we can pick some up at the Chalet. Sweet. See you in a few.

Hey, three posts in a row! It's a hat trick! Two things to mention, and I've got good news and bad news. I'll give the bad first.

I don't know how many of you have been following Nathan Detweiler but I thought I should post an update since a lot has happened recently. Maybe two weeks ago he had just finished chemo and tests were all positive, it seemed like he had been cured. Suddenly, less than a week later, he had a seizure, and went into the hospital, had some tests, etc. Anyway, turns out he had a tumor in his brain, which grew from walnut- to fist-sized in a matter of days. He quickly had life saving surgery, and seems to be recovering from that now. Mark Gingerich went out to Iowa this past weekend to see him, said he was pretty out of it, but alive. Keep him in your prayers. You can read his blog here.

And in better news, I've finally got my summer photos up to share! Check them out on my very own Flickr account here. There may be a bit there, I'll admit, but I tried to choose interesting ones.

Hey eastsiderz! Back from the grand wedding, congrats Brett and Angela, now where's our east hall love child? Good to see some pictures going up, maybe in a few days I'll be able to get mine up too. Flickr looks cool but has a size upload limit, so I'm checking out a few other services. In the meantime, I'm messing around with the way the blog looks, so don't be alarmed if you see some changes happening. Eventually I'll figure out what I'm doing, and then this blog will be the coolest ever! Except for the shoup blog. Man, they know what they're doing.

Yes, what a weekend. I couldn't help but feel a little sentimental about old times with East Hall. I mean, what a bunch of high quality people we are. I guess it's our moral obligation to spread our shining personalities and varied gifts across our fair country.

I started a flickr.com account to share my pictures. Here's the link.
